'10 Items or Less' and John Lehr: Total improv

John Lehr would like to thank you and make sure you come again. The creator and star of “10 Items or Less,” the TBS sitcom about a local grocery store, is beginning the second season of the show. The comedy is almost all improv with no character dialogue written beforehand. Lehr has a history of TV -- and film and stage, for that matter -- and spent time in Chicago, attending Northwestern and performing improv.
His wife, author Jennifer Lehr of “Ill-equipped for a Life of Sex: A Memoir,” is pregnant with their second child, and though he loves parenthood, Lehr vows his resolution this year “is to not have any more children. I’m getting it cut. Whatever it takes, I’m done.”
We sat down at the Four Seasons and talked about the sitcom and his time in Chicago, and I even gave him a quiz about his “10 Items” character Leslie Pool.

American Idol and British TV judges - A hate-hate relationship - TV Feature
Judges in popular reality TV shows underscore our perception of the Brits
There is one in every group, making sarcastic comments, belittling people, and acting pompous. I’m not talking about your circle of friends; I’m talking about reality TV. And in almost every case these brash, ego-centric TV personalities have one thing in common: They’re British.

What would you do with a windfall? - TV Feature
What would you do with a windfall? - TV Feature
The lottery. We’ve all thought about winning at some point in our lives. Now the new NBC show “Windfall” finds twenty people dealing with the reality of splitting a $386 million jackpot. Nine million viewers tuned in to what could be one of the hottest shows this summer.
The most notable cast member is Luke "I hope I'm not referred to as Dylan McKay for the rest of my life" Perry. He plays Peter Schaefer who seems to have the perfect life with his wife and two kids. But she still harbors feelings for her childhood sweetheart.
There is talk of murder, tons of possible love interests and of course spending the millions. But that's not real life.

Chicago Sally has 'Survived' reality TV - Interview
Sally Schumann, 27, was a recent cast-off from the TV show "Survivor." But as she likes to say, she's the second member of the jury. The former soccer coach and now Chicago resident and server at a downtown tavern, sat down to talk about the show, the weight loss, her boyfriend's Speedo and unfortunately why she isn't the final one to outwit, outlast, outplay.

Reality Fight Night - TV Feature
Reality Fight Night - TV Feature
In one corner we had Dancing with the Stars. ABC's show was in the semi-finals with Jerry Rice, Stacy Keibler and Drew Lachey being the stars attempting to make it into the finals. Over on CBS was another installment of Survivor (now in its twelfth season). The current big boy on the block has been Fox's American Idol and it was the first elimination round of the season.
