The 6th Annual Scorecard Movie Awards
It's that time again...
It's the 6th Annual Scorecard Movie Awards
(formerly The j Awards)
From Jeff Bayer, film critic with the Daily Herald
The Academy Awards just don't cut it. Every year I watch, and every year I think they get something wrong.
Not only that, why can't there be more than five nominations, categories that fans care about (no offense "Best Achievement in Sound Editing), and who got second place?
Instead of sitting still -- I created the Scorecard Movie Awards.
Categories range from the typical (Best Overall Cast, Best Actor, Best Film) to the atypical (Best Ending, Best Quote, Funniest).
If you have seen two movies or 200, it doesn't matter. You only vote for the films you have seen.
There are 27 questions including the Hall of Fame.
Most categories, you will vote from 1-10, with 10 being the highest. You are scoring each individual nomination, not ranking them. So you can have multiple 7s, 8s, 10s, it doesn't matter. And your favorite nomination doesn't have to receive a 10.
Enjoy.

First Place ICPA Sports Column Award

Even though I would have much rather won for a film review, instead of a semi-sports article about how difficult it is to get Chicago Cubs tickets, it's good to win.

Beep's 2006 Scorecard Movie Awards - Final Results
Beep's Scorecard Movie Awards: A 'Little' variety; a lot of 'The Departed'
The results are in, and “The Departed” is clearly the fan favorite for all the people that voted in Beep’s Scorecard Movie Awards.
As always, we don’t just get winners with the awards, we get to see the losers as well. Yes, “Eragon,” and “The Da Vinci Code,” I’m talking to you.
The magic number this year is five votes. This means a movie needed at least five votes to be considered for eligibility.

Should Oscars have a Comedy Category? - Debate
Should comedies have their own category at the Oscars? Yes
Of course, comedies should have their own category at the Academy Awards. I was thinking of adding an exclamation point, but I think you get the point — I’m fired up.

The j Awards -- Results
The j Awards -- Results
Don't worry cowboy, you can cry on my shoulder. The results of The j Awards are in and it was a banner year. Now, if you are the type that just needs the numbers feel free to scroll down and get your fix.
The j Awards were just like the Academy Awards in the fact that they both had a wide variety of winners. The big difference was movie of the year and the host. While the Oscars were lucky enough to get Jon Stewart (and should have him hosting for years ala Johnny Carson), The j Awards were once again stuck with a tall blond movie geek shouting out award winners during the commercials.
